Weekly 5: October 3, 2021
Happy October! It’s that time of the week again – 5 things I loved. The past week reminded me that it’s OK to slow down. I started a new routine of sitting down and reading after I get home from work, and I think it has really helped me unwind mentally. I’ve been getting a few headaches lately – probably from screen time – and just sitting in the sun with a good book has been beneficial.
Today we’re taking the dogs to a “dog day” at a corn maze (there will be treats hidden throughout). It’s sunny and 70’s, so I can’t wait to spend some time outside. Then I’m working on the worst part of gardening – the tear down. My mom is joining me to help clear out what’s left. I’m pretty over my tomato plants (we’ve canned a good amount), so they’re coming down, as well as the zucchini, squash, and cantaloupe. My peppers and Brussel sprouts are still thriving, though.
So, as I’ve previously mentioned, each week, I’ll share five things that I loved from the week before. I’ll also be putting them on Instagram, if you miss it. Enjoy!
Amazing Vacation Rentals on Netflix
If you haven’t watched this yet, they just came out with a new season. These feature the most unique, luxurious, or budget-friendly airbnb vacation rentals around the world. We are really loving that this time around, each episode has a deliberate theme. We just finished one about haunted/spooky rentals – think ghosts and Sasquatch (lol).
My favorite headband for my all-black outfits
I found this headband (pictured above) a few years ago, and it’s seriously the best for when you’re wanting to dress up an all-black outfit or look kind of slouchy and add something. It’s inexpensive and Fendi-inspired. You can shop it, or similar headbands, below.
Trader Joe’s Milk Chocolate Covered Peanut Butter Pretzels

You guys. These are seriously incredible. A girl I work with told me about them, and I headed to Trader Joe’s that evening to assess. They’re above the ice cream (random, yes) and next to the PB cups. These are seriously addicting. We used to get the PB pretzels at Costco, but goodbye to those after this!
My latest read: Safe in My Arms
Ok, this book by Sara Shepard has SUCH a good plot. Three mothers move to a nicer city in CA with separate hopes of starting new lives. They all enroll their kids in an upscale preschool and are sure it was a good move – until they start receiving hate notes that appear to be written by their children. They all have daunting pasts that come back to affect them at different times – and end up intertwining. It was GOOD. Sara Shepard is the author of Pretty Little Liars, so I wasn’t sure if this would be YA, but it was just a really decent thriller. Would recommend! 4/5 stars.
Cincinnati!
Later this week we are headed to Cincinnati! We’re popping through Indianapolis and then going to catch an NFL game. Riley and I are both so excited! Please send us any food or drink recommendations!
Have a great start to your week!
