Weekend Getaway at Midtown Crossing Omaha

After the crazy month of March, a girl’s weekend getaway was exactly what I needed! When Midtown Crossing reached out to partner with me, I jumped at the chance to go on a staycation with one of my BFFs, just a short 45 minutes away! Here’s a little itinerary for your next getaway weekend:

Where To Stay in Midtown

stay at the element midtown crossing omaha

We stayed complimentary at the Element Hotel, but I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a central area location! The Element was walkable distance from everything fun, and had an in-room kitchenette! I loved that they had bikes available for guests to use, convenient garage parking, and breakfast. My only complaint is that there were not outlets next to the bed nightstands. Maybe they’re just trying to get us to not use our phones in bed though! 🙂

Where To Shop

Although there isn’t a ton of shopping in the Midtown area, there are two spots you don’t want to miss stopping at! The Afternoon has a unique selection of Nebraska items (so many perfect gifts) and Hutch has a DIY succulent bar! You can also find locally-made items like candles and prints at Hutch!

Where To Eat

Shop my camo jacket here

Shop similar bag here (mines from TJ Maxx)

We got to try out Modern Love Saturday evening. I recommend making a reservation – this is a new location and it was super busy! Modern Love is vegan, but has food for everyone. I absolutely LOVED all three dishes we tried – the Poutine, Fried Mozzarella, and Avocado Garlic Bread. I also got the Blueberry Lemonade and my friend tried a Chocolate Shake. I totally recommend this if you’re a foodie and want to venture to somewhere new!

Where To Drink

We grabbed drinks at Proof Whiskey Bar & Craft Cocktails. Although they have hundreds of whiskeys, we tried out drinks with rum and gin – more our style! This had a great ambiance, cool couches to lounge on, and an outdoor patio that would be perfect for the upcoming summer evenings.

What To Do

The Alamo Drafthouse Cinema opened in March, and it’s the place to go! It’s a theatre with full-service dining and a great menu. They also have the fabulous reclining chairs! If you’re ordering food, I recommend bottomless popcorn or chicken strips – the ranch is amazing.

After crossing everything on this itinerary off your list, Midtown also has a tap room and a few other fun restaurants to check out! We headed over to a nearby coffee shop in the morning – Midtown is so close to other neighborhoods too!

Thanks again to Midtown Crossing for the fun weekend; I will be back! Let me know if you’re checking out this area or have any fun girl’s weekend getaways planned! We are already awaiting the launch of the NE Passport App for 2019 (May 1st) to plan a few road trips! You can view my travel section of MP here.

  • The perfect accent to the space I spend so much time in! This print I partnered with @mapiful to create not only features my favorite city, but reminds me of how things have changed... just 5 years ago I was working my very first post-grad job in #Chicago and now we’re living in a pandemic, #WFH world. Where were you 5 years ago? Crazy times. Right now you can get 20% off when you buy a print + frame at #mapiful! Such a fun holiday gift! Look back a few posts for another print inspiration! #mapifulfamily #framedmap #map #chicagomap #partnership
  • Real garland ✔️ Excited that the mantle is finished! Would love allll of your tips to keep it alive through #Christmas! I also had extra, so I whipped together a makeshift wreath to go over the mirror. • Another post from me today, say what?! I had to share that @mapiful is running their BIGGEST sale of the year - 20% off everything! I’ve had so much fun partnering to design my #Chicago and #Lincoln prints. I love this little corner of my office. I’m thankful it’s inviting, especially after a long holiday weekend! • Keeping date nights going during this pandemic has been interesting, especially when your bf is a nurse! Last night we enjoyed dinner at Leadbelly (seriously, SO COVID-friendly & the same owners as my fave place Toast in #LNK) and the Season of Lights in Turner Park at @midtowncrossing! Thank you so much for having us, Midtown! It was a much needed little getaway into Omaha, followed by driving around and seeing more lights. We loved: -132nd & Larimore, which has a few houses set up to radio stations -132nd & Hamilton - Linden Estates Area - which blew me away
  • Two months ago, I tested positive for COVID-19 and during that quarantine period I did a whooooleeee lot of binge-watching. Whether you’re in my situation or you’re just quarantining before you see family for the holidays, I put together an important guide on the blog: Everything I watched in quarantine, ranked from worst-best. #quarantinewatchlist #whattowatch #nebraskablogger

I’m sharing my favorite rides and recommendations after completing 200 on the blog today.
