Cold Weather Reading List

Nebraska had it’s first snow this week, inspiring me to share my cold weather reading list. There is truly nothing better than curling up with a good novel.

Updated: November 2019

As you know, reading is one of my favorite things. There is truly nothing better than turning on my diffuser, grabbing a cozy throw blanket, and curling up with a good novel. You may remember my previous home had a reading nook where I wish I was able to spend more time! On most week nights, I read before bed, and if I’m caught up in a good mystery book – I finish the whole thing! This year, one of my goals was to read 32 books. I’ve finished 31 so far (follow me here on Goodreads), and head to the library about once a week.

Cold Weather Reading List

I’ve been really impressed with Fremont’s library book selection. More times than not, the books I’ve wanted have been checked out, but I’m able to tell a librarian and put myself in line for when they become available. I’ve never had to wait more than a month, and I just receive a phone call that my book is in. Many people say our library is underutilized, and I completely disagree! They also have had the individual books I’ve been searching for – and if they didn’t, I utilized inter-library loan.

My book interests range from historical fiction to suspenseful thrillers to over-the-top romance novels, so my “want to read” list is never-ending. With the first snowfall this morning in Nebraska, this time of year inspires me to curl up with a book more frequently. Today I’m sharing my cold weather reading list – please share your favorites as well so I can add them!

The Alice Network by Kate Quinn

This Tender Land by William Kent Krueger

Winter Garden by Kristin Hannah

No Exit by Taylor Adams

One Day in December by Josie Silver

  • The perfect accent to the space I spend so much time in! This print I partnered with @mapiful to create not only features my favorite city, but reminds me of how things have changed... just 5 years ago I was working my very first post-grad job in #Chicago and now we’re living in a pandemic, #WFH world. Where were you 5 years ago? Crazy times. Right now you can get 20% off when you buy a print + frame at #mapiful! Such a fun holiday gift! Look back a few posts for another print inspiration! #mapifulfamily #framedmap #map #chicagomap #partnership
  • Real garland ✔️ Excited that the mantle is finished! Would love allll of your tips to keep it alive through #Christmas! I also had extra, so I whipped together a makeshift wreath to go over the mirror. Now I just need to wrap presents! #mantledecor #realgarland #garland #christmasdecor #holidaydecor #mantlestyling #garlanddecor #nebraskablogger #nebraska #homedecor #homefortheholidays
  • Another post from me today, say what?! I had to share that @mapiful is running their BIGGEST sale of the year - 20% off everything! I’ve had so much fun partnering to design my #Chicago and #Lincoln prints. I love this little corner of my office. I’m thankful it’s inviting, especially after a long holiday weekend! I added a link in my bio to their site! #mapifulfamily #collab #officedecor #homeoffice #chicagoprint #chicagodecor #nebraskablogger #wayfair #workfromhome #workfromhomelife
  • Keeping date nights going during this pandemic has been interesting, especially when your bf is a nurse! Last night we enjoyed dinner at Leadbelly (seriously, SO COVID-friendly & the same owners as my fave place Toast in #LNK) and the Season of Lights in Turner Park at @midtowncrossing! Thank you so much for having us, Midtown! It was a much needed little getaway into Omaha, followed by driving around and seeing more lights. We loved: -132nd & Larimore, which has a few houses set up to radio stations -132nd & Hamilton - Linden Estates Area - which blew me away
  • Two months ago, I tested positive for COVID-19 and during that quarantine period I did a whooooleeee lot of binge-watching. Whether you’re in my situation or you’re just quarantining before you see family for the holidays, I put together an important guide on the blog: Everything I watched in quarantine, ranked from worst-best. #quarantinewatchlist #whattowatch #nebraskablogger
  • 200!! Happy to kick off 2021 with a big @onepeloton milestone! I’ve been loving the #bikethatgoesnowhere for almost 2 years and finally hit this goal. Big thanks to @robinnyc for the back-to-back rides today! I’ve never stuck with a fitness program this long and could go on and on about Peloton. If you’re on the fence, GO FOR IT! I’m sharing my favorite rides and recommendations after completing 200 on the blog today.
