Winter Hair Care: Hair Masks

About three weeks ago, I started noticing my hair getting dry and scheduled a hair cut. I’m the kind of person who goes probably six months without a hair cut and usually about a year without getting my hair colored. I know that’s not healthy, but I don’t prioritize my hair (and it’s expensive!) like I should.

A week after my hair cut, I got my hair colored and started thinking about my hair care routine more. I was almost out of conditioner and a package arrived from Influenster with the L’Oreal Elvive Color Vibrancy Repair & Protect Mask inside. I had never used a hair mask, but had been seeing them a lot lately on Instagram and thought I’d do some research. This particular hair mask is meant for color-treated hair, which was perfect timing with my newly blonde balayage. It also is for dry or damaged hair, which most of us have in the winter months.

What shocked me the most was that the hair mask takes just one treatment to see results. I am on one of the Monat Facebook pages and I have noticed with that brand of hair mask, you have let it sit 10 minutes multiple times a week. I don’t have time for that when I’m rushing in the morning! I used the L’Oreal Elvive Color Vibrancy Repair & Protect Mask instead of my regular conditioner and it only had to sit for 3-5 minutes.

I wish I could share the smell with you all! The second I opened the package, I felt like I stepped into Bath & Body Works – haha! This hair mask smells amazing. Truthfully, I probably used an excess amount, but it smoothed out all of my tangles like a conditioner and left my hair with that smell.

After the mask, I was inspired to change up my hair care routine and make some slight changes for the winter season. I read that you are supposed to swap your shampoo/conditioner every so often, and I’d been using the same kind for years, so I invested in a new brand. I also have been putting Moroccan Oil through my damp hair after combing it. I’ve noticed my hair not only has more shine now, but is less greasy. I have fine hair, so this was definitely helpful!

Do you change up anything about your winter hair care routine? I’ve linked the L’Oreal Elvive Color Vibrancy Repair & Protect Mask below, along with a few other hair masks from brands I love. The price point of the L’Oreal mask is a steal at about $6 for 8+ oz.
