My Office + Ikea Desk Hack

One room in my house is finally almost done! I’m sharing my office space with you, including my Ikea hack on my desk – my new favorite piece of furniture!

Ahh this desk. There has never been a more perfect piece of furniture in my mind. I love it for three reasons: it’s giant, it has the right amount of storage and it has hiding places for your cords. When I originally ordered it from Ikea, I was hesitant. I chose it because of the size. It fits perfectly in my little corner.

It comes with all white legs. I chose to do an “Ikea hack” and spray paint them gold, like my coffee table (if you missed that, read here). Just like the coffee table, the legs took three coats of gold spray paint and a large amount of drying time (2-3 days). It’s holding up nicely, though!

The cord storage has to be the greatest invention. The back section of the desk flips up and open and you can string your cords from the desk into this section and through little circles inside to reach an outlet. Genius! Since I sometimes hook up my embroidery/sewing machine, I have lots of cords all over that I like out of my way. It’s also great for my printer – you can totally see these cords in the pictures, but #reallife.

Dresser | Similar Gold Mirror | Clothing Rack | Similar File Cabinet

My dresser is also from Ikea, but it’s in original form (kind of…). It took FOREVER to assemble. My dad, who does woodworking/carpentry and is very handy, thought this was a nightmare. It came in teeny individual boards that you had to piece together. It was a great price, though, but I’m not sure if I would have rather just bought something pre-assembled at NFM and carried it in.

I got lucky and my friend Alexis was getting rid of the gold mirror, so she gifted it to me! I found my deer print at Hobby Lobby. If you know me, you know I’m a big hunter, so this was a fun take on a deer head.

My clothing rack was a Target purchase when I lived in an apartment, and it’s really handy! I hang up what I plan to wear in the next few weeks and any items I’ve recently bought.

Lastly, my file cabinet. My pride and joy. LOL! I am soooo Type-A and if you follow me on Instagram, you may have seen my organization rant in my stories. I use both my file cabinet and a binder for everything and I’m already prepping for tax season.

So, there’s a peek at my little space! I would love to add a loveseat or bench + more accent pieces, but it’s definitely a start!
