Happy 2017! I feel like the past year flew by. I lived in 2 cities, 3 different apartments & finally ended up with an awesome job. I am so thankful to be where I’m at and starting the year on a high note.
Each year for Christmas my parents gift me a planner. I’ve tested out numerous options and by this point know the style and layout I like (vertical). One of my managers at work introduced me to my choice this year.
This Ink+Volt planner is a goal-setters dream. As a competitive and uber-organized person, I like checklists and goals. This planner allows me to set yearly, monthly and weekly goals! It also has sections for accountability and reflection, which is incredibly important. If I didn’t reach my goal, what were my setbacks? 2016 was so chaotic with a move to Chicago and not knowing where I wanted to be at job-wise. My new planner will keep me focused 🙂
Last year, I had an Erin Condren planner, which I gifted my best friend this year. I’ve experimented with both her planners and Emily Ley’s. I really thought I’d go for another EC, but the spiral-bound book wasn’t ideal when stuffed into a big purse. This is bound like a book and won’t get caught on anything in my bag and takes up just the right amount of space. I can’t gush enough.
So far, I’ve established my 2017 theme: perseverance. As I was brainstorming thoughts for what I wanted to accomplish in 2017, I realized the reason I didn’t do some things in 2016 was because of my lack of follow-through.
My 2017 Top Goals:
- Save $, build up my savings accounts (my mom is calling this “frugal through February”)
- Build out my blog
- Travel to another country
- Take a girl’s trip (we’ve been swapping ideas of Charleston or a cruise for years)
- Go the the gym 3x/week
What are your 2017 goals? I was able to set my January goals to reflect these and start off on a good note! I love all the sections of my new planner that allow me to check my progress and review.
My January Goals (My planner titles this a 31-Day Challenge & this reflects my yearly!):
1. Focus on saving not spending
2. Blog 2x/week
3. Meal prep vs. eat out
4. Try 1 new Omaha restaurant (suggestions, please?!)
5. Have one awesome activity for me & my teammate (she’s a 6th grader so this can be tough!)
Happy first week of January! What are you striving towards? The best thing you can invest in this year is YOU.
