The weekend of February 14 changed my life in a big way. I had been miserable at my previous job for some time and knew it wasn’t the position I wanted to stay in. I was living in Chicago and loving being in a big city, but 99% of what I was doing was working or commuting to work. I spent that weekend at home with my parents in Nebraska. February 14, I decided not to go back to Chicago.
After a long Friday afternoon call with my manager, we mutually agreed Nebraska was the place for me. It was where I should be. I worked best where I had consistency and the ability to see my future goals play out. In Chicago, my career future was really unclear.
This week marks six months of me being back in Nebraska! I am so, so thankful. I’ve had the ability to reconnect with old friends, meet new friends, find a job I LOVE going to every day and work with great people (many which I look up to as mentors). But, most importantly be close to family.
I also have been able to be more involved in my community. The familiarity of Omaha makes this much easier. I am so thankful I was a part of the Tri Delta Alumni Group in Chicago, but I didn’t get to do much else. In Omaha, I am a part of TeamMates Mentoring, the AMA, The Lincoln Tri Delta Alumni Group and I got to start this blog with Bayley! God has truly put me in the right spot.
I wanted to highlight this with the “We Don’t Coast” wall in Omaha. I’m not coasting through life anymore – I’m doing impactful things daily. This is such a great motto for our city.
A side big announcement:
Nordstrom now sells J. Crew!
I’ve linked a few of my favorite things above that you can purchase. The gingham classic button down is an essential for this awkward transition from summer to fall. I’ve also stocked up on my Madewell jeans (same overhead company as J.Crew). I completed the outfit with a tassle necklace, flats and my MAB tote.
Have a great Wednesday! If you’re new to Omaha, reach out to me! I’m so grateful to be here and would love to share this city with you.
